Coaching is More Than Writing a Programme
Good coaching starts with understanding the person in font of you. Their goals, their experience, their strengths, their challenges and what they actually need. That's what Raeside Pro Edge is built around.

The Coach Behind Raeside Pro Edge
I've spent more than 10 years coaching young people and over 30 years training within competitive sport and strength & conditioning environments. That experience has shaped a simple belief: good coaching isn't about following trends or making people tired. It's about understanding the individual, applying the right training at the right time and helping them make meaningful, long-term progress.

Experience, Education & Continued Development
I've trained within competitive sport and strength & conditioning environments for over 30 years and have coached young people for more than a decade. My practical coaching experience spans youth athletic development, football, futsal, CrossFit and strength & conditioning, including two years working as an S&C coach within Dunfermline Athletic's youth academy.

Built through Experience
Never Stop Learning
My formal education includes an HND in Leisure Management and a Professional Diploma in Strength & Conditioning for Football from Barcelona, alongside coaching education in football, futsal and CrossFit. I've been a member of the UKSCA for four years and continue to invest in professional development, conferences, research and learning from leading coaches and practitioners.
Learning From The Best
My development as a coach has been shaped by working directly with experienced practitioners. I spent two years working within Dunfermline Athletic's youth Academy under Steve Curnyn, former Head of Academy Science & Medicine at Hibernian and now Head of Performance at Dunfermline Athletic. I've continued to learn and be mentored by Rob Anderson, founder of the Athlete Academy and 2024 UKSCA Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year for youth sport.
Coaching & Mentorship
Research & High Performance
I've also had the opportunity to learn and build relationships with leading experts including Professor Sean Cumming, an internally recognised leader in growth, maturation and youth athletic development. Sean's work on how biological maturation influences training, performance and talent development has helped shape how I approach coaching young people, recognising that two athletes of the same age can have very different physical and developmental needs. I've also learned from Jared Deacon , former Olympian and now performance coach and Des Ryan, former head of Sports Medicine and Athletic Development at Arsenal Academy. Des helped develop Arsenal's "Strong Young Gunners" approach, combining athletic development with mentality, learning, behaviour and personal development rather than focusing solely physical performance. These influences reinforce what sits at the heart of RPE: develop the person as well as the athlete and coach the individual rather than simply the age.
We don't copy other coaches. We keep learning, questioning and adapting so the people we coach get a better service.
What Makes RPE Different
Purposeful coaching. Individual attention. Long-term progress.
Individual, Not Generic
No two people are the same. We assess the individual in front of us and build training around their goals, ability, experience and stage of development, not a generic programme or one size fits all approach.
Evidence + Experience
Our coaching combines evidence based practice with years of real world coaching experience. We use research, testing and data where they add value, alongside observation, communication and coaching judgement.
We're interested in process that lasts. whether we're coaching a young person, athlete or adult, training is progressive, appropriate and built around where they are now and where they want to go.
Long-Term Development
